RUST….

For the Rust removal I did some research of research and this is what I have found about the different methods.

  • Electrolysis – Works great on objects large and small. It’s limited only to your imagination. Click here for the in depth process as it’s too much to cover here.
  • Wire brush on a battery drill is best for removing easy to reach rust. Will remove surface and flaky rust. If you need extra power suggest using a corded drill. (Lots more torque!)
  • A chemical solution works well for parts if you want to go that route. I tried an Eco friendly solution for some small parts and nuts and bolts and it works like a dream. Really makes the process that much easier. This can take some time depending on the amount of rust you have. It can also be costly for bigger pieces of metal, which I did not continue with this method. If you want to try it here’s the affiliate link:Metal Rescue Rust Remover – 1 Gallon
    • Exhaust System

20171203_150600.jpgI used a metal wire brush on a battery drill for the bulk removal of the rust. This worked fairly well and I was able to remove all surface rust from the muffler section.

As a precaution I would not recommend using rust converter as it states that it should be only used at ambient temperature (Exhaust system get hot). Something I didn’t find out until after it had dried, will let you know how that goes….20171203_153415.jpg
